Chopin: Piano Concertos Nos. 1&2

The poet of the piano, the Paganini of the piano – to this day Fryderyk Chopin (1810–1849) is known by these monikers, indeed in his own time his talent was considered to be comparable only to Mozart’s. His two early piano concertos are a favourite of conductors and pianists alike; they were both written in the sensitive, agonizing period when the composer was forced to emigrate from his homeland. Pianist Gábor Farkas is accompanied by the Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra (which this year celebrates its eightieth anniversary), conducted by Tamás Vásáry.
